"Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments"
-Bethenney Frankel
Humans have experimented with their food habits since a long time. Some do it with a sense of being health, while some follow it due to various religious practices. One such diet known to us is the Fruitarian diet. So let me begin by the most common question.

What is a fruitarian diet?
The answer is simple. A diet which majorly consists of raw fruits. These fruits amounting upto 75% of your intake. It also includes fruit smoothies, fruit juices also.

Second major question will be

What are the benefits of such a diet?
Fruits, as we know, contains anti-oxidants as well as are a great source of vitamin C. All these are really helpful for maintaining our health. It also reduces the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases.
Moreover such a diet also results in weight-loss but then once you abandon the diet, the weight creeps back.
So how should be the transition to a fruitarian diet?
Well this is the most important thing. Such a diet cannot be started with a vigorous regime of eating only fruits. Hence transition to such a diet should be slow. One should also include nuts, seeds as well as vegetables. They are an essential source of fats and reduce sudden blood sugar spikes too.
Also avocados, bananas and coconut are very good source of fat.

Well now coming to the next necessary question...

What are the risks involved with following such a diet?
Such a restrictive diet, when followed rigorously, can impact your health:
Nutritional deficiencies can take place. Essential vitamins like B-12 as well as D, calcium, iodine and omega-3 fatty acids deficiency can in turn lead to other disorders.
Starvation Mode gets on. People learn to starve which in turn leads to a weak, lean physique.
Moreover the amount of sugar in foods such as apple can actually lead to tooth decay.
Also a fruit-only diet can increase the chances of pancreatic and kidney disorders.
Deficiency of calcium can lead to osteoporosis also.

Overall, my advise would be that not to go on a fruitarian diet without consulting your doctor. In fact if you want to begin with such a diet then try to consume as many different types of fruits as possible along with certain nutritional supplements also. So that you don't run out of essential vitamins.

Till the stay healthy and do share your opinions in the comments section. :)
